Dr. Robert O'Brien grew up in the small town of Douglas, GA and knew since his middle school years that he wanted to be a dentist. After graduating high school, he went to one year of undergraduate schooling at Valdosta State University studying both music and biology. Dr. O'Brien then went on a two-year church mission to Thailand, where he learned to both read and write Thai while teaching the people about Jesus Christ. Upon completion of his two-year church mission, Dr. O'Brien returned to VSU and completed his bachelor of science degree graduating top of his class in 2009. He then pursued and completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree from the Medical College of Georgia (later renamed Georgia Regents University) in 2013.
Following dental school Dr. O'Brien joined the Dental Care Center team and has enjoyed getting to know and helping the people of Macon regain “something to smile about”.
While in dental school, Dr. O'Brien took particular interest in the new Cerec® CAD/CAM technology that enables patients to walk out with a crown cemented in place in one visit. He also developed a love for correcting patients' bites, placing cosmetic restorations, and performing root canals.
Dr. O'Brien is a member of the American Dental Association, Georgia Dental Association, and Academy of General Dentistry. He is active in the local Latter-day Saints church, serving as a youth adviser as well as a Boy Scout leader. While away from the practice, Dr. O'Brien enjoys spending time with his wife, playing and watching sports, practicing the piano, traveling, exploring new places to eat, and visiting family.
